Women in Construction:
empowering skills and presence in the 3D Construction Industry

About the project

This small scale partnership funded through Erasmus+ seeks to promote the presence of women in the 3D construction industry and increase their number in the field by promoting the professional development of adult trainers from partner entities and other construction industry stakeholders, promoting self-training of women interested and in need of 3D construction skills and digital skills, sharing knowledge about 3D job opportunities, and promoting diversity in the 3D construction field.

Project objectives:

  • Implement a MOOC for adult women about 3D construction and digital sector-specific skills.

  • Organise 1 training for trainers.

  • Organise 10 onsite workshops for women about 3D construction.

  • Organise one peer learning activity in Ireland.

  • Organise 1 final event where women in the construction field will provide their experience in the field.

Project Partners

The project is a collaborative effort between two partners from Ireland and Spain with the strategic objective of empowering, developing competences and transmitting a sense of belonging to the female workforce through online training initiatives, innovative teaching methodologies and mentoring programmes.

Future Cast is an Innovation, Education, and R&D centre focussed on the Construction and Quarrying industries. We work with companies in these sectors and throughout their manufacturing supply chains on projects to increase the adoption of advanced technology and processes. We are a non-profit organisation with a remit to research and disseminate technologies in Industry 4.0 to our member companies. We help solve pressing issues with our accumulated knowledge and expertise in industries automation, innovation, and funding.

Building Bridges Cultural Association was founded in 2008 to promote a spirit and community integration and to foster European culture awareness among the youth. Events

1st TRANSNATIONAL MEETING IN MADRID, SPAIN

In March the whole WICEPS team met in Madrid for the first transnational partner meeting of the project.
The meeting served not only to work on the tasks related to the project but also to get to know each other better and to start a fruitful cooperation between all of us.
The meeting helped us to define all the future results we want to achieve within this project and to share them with you. During the meeting we analysed the data we collected in January and February through a series of goolge forms. We submitted questionnaires to women working in construction to determine the needs of the target group and the challenges related to women's access to the construction workforce. The analysis of the collected data helped us to determine the depth or technical potential of the MOOC content.

Online MOOC - Empowering women in construction

Empowering Women in Construction with Digital and Leadership Skills! We are thrilled to announce the launch of the WICEPS MOOC, an online course developed through our Erasmus+ project, WICEPS. 3D Construction Printing

3D construction printing is revolutionizing the way buildings are constructed. Using advanced additive manufacturing techniques, entire structures can now be fabricated layer-by-layer directly from digital models. This innovative process allows for greater design flexibility, faster project completion, and reduced material waste compared to traditional construction methods.Unique Architectural DesignsThe flexibility of 3D printing enables architects to create complex, organic shapes that would be challenging or impossible to build using conventional construction techniques. These intricate designs showcase the potential of this emerging technology to push the boundaries of architectural possibilities.Sustainable ConstructionBy minimizing material waste and utilizing sustainable materials, 3D construction printing has the potential to significantly reduce the environmental impact of the building industry. As the technology continues to evolve, it is poised to play a key role in the shift towards more eco-friendly construction practices worldwide.Future of BuildingAs the market for 3D printed buildings grows, this innovative approach is expected to transform the construction industry. With its ability to streamline processes, reduce costs, and enable novel designs, 3D printing is set to redefine the future of building construction in the years to come.
